7 Days of Sensational Finds and a Giveaway?!?

Starting this week, everyday I will talk about 1 or 2 products I love as a new mom.  I’m by no means a mommy pro, but I do have a few items that I love and want to recommend for any new mom. I did so much research and reading on different baby products and the book “The girlfriends’ guide to baby gear” by Vicki Iovine really gave me a realistic ideas of what’s actually necessary. So definitely check that book out if your pregnant and want some pointers. Once the baby comes home you will see what works best for you and them but here’s a couple of things that I swear by, and still use at 4 months old.

:Side Note: Next Sunday I wanted to do a giveaway of some of the products I mention. I’m not sure if anyone would want to enter but if you would want to do please comment below so I can go out this week and purchase them. Then on Sunday I would post all the details. So, comment below if a giveaway is something your into! Now back to what I was talking about!

1. Pampers Swaddler diapers– I read that you should buy a few different brands just incase your Little One (LO) was allergic, but I didn’t know that some diapers just leak for the hell of it. Huggies is one brand for us that just leak! It happens often with boys. We had about 100 that I  had to give to my sister who’s having a baby girl. Pamper Swaddler  also comes in sensitive, and doesn’t have the Dry Max that can cause irritation for some. I just love the swaddlers. They have the wetness indicator on the front of the diaper so if they are wet you can tell with just looking and not have to do the “sniff test”. Pampers has a great program Gifts That Grow, almost all the products you buy have codes located on them.  You can redeem them online for points, once you accumulate different amounts of points you can get free things. I’m all about free things, so I love it. I definitely think Pampers Swaddlers’ are the way to go for boys.

2. The Soothie– This is the best pacifier. When Baby B was in the hospital they gave us this pacifier to use and he’s used it ever since. Of course I went out and brought all the cute pacifiers that say ” MY MOMS HOT”. He just won’t use them. They have a more round shaped nipple. The Soothie is more like mothers’ nipple, slim and long. The colors aren’t fun at all. Blue, Pink, and green is all you’re getting. One cool “accessory” sold for your soothie is a  Wubbanub Plush Pacifier Toys. It’s a Soothie attached to a stuffed animal, which is a genius idea. Baby B is constantly spitting out the pacifier in his sleep, I’ll have to go and put it back in his mouth once he starts to cry. The stuffed animal rests on your LO chest so they can’t lose the paci so easily.  You have to buy it already attached which kind of sucks, but they are just too cute not to have. These two are a must!

Here’s our daily pictures from yesterday (5/28) and today (5/29).

My Six Favorite Nail Polishes

Having a fresh manicure is something I think every girl loves. When I look down at my hands and see  freshly painted nails it always puts a smile on my face. I love getting my nails done by the professionals, but with a new baby it’s not always feasible. So doing them my self is the next best thing. Painting your nails can take some patients that not everyone has, including me most days. This is why a Quick Dry Topcoat will help from smudging your nails because you can’t wait any longer for them to dry (please tell me I’m not alone). Seche Vite is the one that I use and will highly recommend you to get it. It’s available at Ulta but, I’ve found it on Amazon.com around $5.00. Now on to favorite polishes right now.

1. Essie French Affair- The whole French Affair is beautiful, I believe it’s the newest collection out right now. It’s a light pink color, but not sheer. Most pinks I find are more sheer, so you have to do a couple of coats, this one is not. You can do 2 coats and be fine. Light pink is a color that you can wear everyday no matter what you’re wearing, a great neutral polish.

2. MAC Coconut Ice- This a light coral color that’s perfect for spring. I brought this color last year so I’m not sure if they still have it, but I love it. Coral is such a popular color this year for spring, and I’m totally loving it. This is more of a subtle coral and not as bright as it normally is. I wear this shad all the time and love the way it looks. The only thing is I’m not crazy about MAC nail polish, I’m not sure if it’s the formula or what. They are quite costly as well.

3. Essie Carousel Coral- Yes, another coral. I told you I was loving coral. This is another shade that I’ve had for a while, but now that spring is here I’ m all about using it again. This is more vibrant than Coconut Ice and I think I like this one much better. Sometimes you just want a bright color on your nails and this is one that I love.

4. Sinful Colors Savage- This is a drugstore brand, that I purchased at Rite Aid. The color I say is a greenish blue, like a dark turquoise. I saw it the other day and it really caught my eye. Its part of their new Lone Star collection which had some really cute colors. The best part about this brand is they only cost around $3.00, what a steal. I have other colors from this company that I like, and they have a bunch of colors at Rite Aid. So thumbs up for Sinful Colors.

5. Essie Mint Candy Apple- Perhaps I have a thing for Essie polish. This is a fun mint green color, almost the color of a Tiffany’s box. It’s such a spring color, you can just look at it and think spring. Maybe because it’s a pastel color and people always wear pastels in spring. Anyway, I love this color on my toes, that’s what I’m wearing now.

6. Maybelline Beach Plum- This was a limited edition color that I got on sale and absolutely love it. It’s a purple color, but not too dark. It’s more in the middle is we are talking about darkness. Not light and not dark, shall we say Barney purple. I love mixing it with a purple glitter polish on 1 nail, it looks so amazing. Yes, so amazing I’m wearing it now!

Ok gals and guys that’s all of them, my 6 favorite nail polish colors. Hope you liked them, please share your favorites. Now its adult time. We’re dog sitting for my mother-in-law, so we have 2 dogs. It’s a lot of work to have 2 dogs and a baby, I’m pooped! I had the best 1st Mother’s Day ever! Bobby and the baby made me my favorite breakfast, french toast and bacon. It was so yummy! They brought me the prettiest roses and we went on a picnic in a park. It was a wonderful day, spent with my two boys. I hope you all day a wonderful Mother’s Day and are having a great week.

I started doing YouTube videos again so please go and check them out! Make sure you subscribe, it would mean so much to me!

Baby’s First Easter

This Easter was the first holiday we were able to celebrate with Baby B since he was born in February. When I was pregnant I would think about how the holidays would be when he was here, and how exciting it will be to see the holidays through a child’s eyes. There’s nothing more special than to watch someone experience something new for the first time. I know I love experiencing new things in life. When I gave birth that was a feeling that I never felt before. It’s something you can’t put into words. I was experiencing something brand new for the first time. Baby B is still too young to know what was going on, but just having him here with us was wonderful.

Growing up we always had different traditions on holidays. On Easter we would go to Mass on Saturday night and then Easter morning we would go downstairs, find the eggs that we colored days before, then open our baskets. We always used the same colorful baskets. My mom would cook dinner, and all the brothers, sisters, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews would be there. It’s memories like this I’m so excited to make with my family. To me, that’s what makes a holiday so special. I decided that I wanted to get Baby B a basket that he could use year after year. Something with his name on it. I started browsing Etsy and found a couple of cute buckets with names on them. I figured I could just make one myself and not spend $20-30. I asked Bobby’s Aunt to make it since she is wonderful at making crafty things like that. She got him the cutest duck easter basket and then put his name on it. It wasn’t what I had pictured, but it was perfect. Thanks Auntie!

Bobby and I decided to spend our first holiday as a family here at our house. I cooked and we just hung out enjoying the day. We did a mini photo shoot of Baby B in his Easter outfit. He wore an orange and white striped long-sleeved Ralph Lauren Polo romper and tan sneakers. He looked like a little preppy stud muffin! It’s hard to find cute clothes for boys, but you can never go wrong with Ralph Laurens Polo. It’s cute, comfortable, fits well, and is fashionable. It can be a little pricey, so thank God we have an outlet super close and Marshalls always carries it. We had a wonderful first Easter and I feel so blessed to have such an amazing son and fiance  to spend it with. Now it’s time to enjoy the warm weather of spring with long walks at the park, flip-flops, Rita’s Water Ice, and family!

Gift Giving 2010

gift idea

gift idea by smallysmallz04 featuring christmas hats

During the holidays you see a lot of friends and family, which can mean many gifts to buy. Here are a few gift ideas that you can give to girlfriends, co-workers, sisters, or the hostess of a holiday party. I personally love them all and think they are so cute and most important inexpensive! My hubby and I celebrate Christmas with his family, and we do a Pollyanna, which is nice because you can focus your attention on one person. We always end up buying everyone something small, and these are similar things that I would give. One thing that find I helpful is, keeping one or two extra small gifts just in case you have a last-minute person show up. I hate not having something for everyone especially if they have gotten you something. I haven’t started my shopping because I tend to wait till Christmas is closer, but I do have an idea of what I want to give.

1. Chann Luu- Hermatite Wrap Bracelet- This bracelet is a little pricey, at $140.00, but anyone will love them. They come in dark green or grey and look great alone or stacked with more bracelets or a watch. Available at zappos.com

2. Hues and Brews Cupcakes 14 oz Mugs (Set of 4)- I absolutely love these coffee mugs! There’s nothing like waking up in the morning to this cup, it will put a smile on your face. This season the Keurig K Cups seems to be a popular gift and this would be a perfect add-on gift. These mugs would be a perfect gift for your child teacher or a co-worker. Available at distinctive-decor.com for $35.99

3. Estee Lauder Compact Holiday 2010 Collection Estee Lauder has been doing this holiday collection for years, but this years collection is beautiful. This season’s collection of exceptional new design showcases the unique beauty of nature, featuring animals and birds, such as rare jeweled sea turtle and precious blue birds. Six of the compacts contain Estee Lauder solid perfumes and the other six contain a translucent powder that works for any skin tone. No matter if the women you are shopping for love make up or not, I think anyone would love to have such a beautiful gift. Available at Estee Lauder counters prices starting at $49.00

4. Sigma Premium Travel Kit- Sigma make up brushes are such great quality, they are great for a girl just starting to use make up, or a professional to take them on-the-go. The brushes come in a super cute hot pink clutch that I wouldn’t mind using in place of a purse. The kit gives you 7 brushes a powder, tapered, large fluff, concealer, short shader, small eyeliner, and a blending brush. The quality of the brushes is not like any other travel kit, they are soft and don’t shed. I know a lot of people who compare them to MAC brushes only Sigma brushes are half the price. If you have someone on your list that travels or is on-the-go this will be a perfect way for them to pack less. Available here http://www.sigmabeauty.com/?Click=37670 for $59.00

5. Kate Spade iPhone 4 Cover- This witty iPhone case is a hard case in a great green color. The back of the case has a rotary dial detail that’s sure to make you and your friends laugh. I think this is a perfect gift for a co-worker,Pollyanna gift, or even just for you. Available at KateSpade.com for $40.00

6. LUSH Gingerbread House Tin– Lush makes some of the most delicious handmade soaps and bath products.  This gift set contains a holiday tin that holds the gingerbread house bubble bar, candy cane bubble bar, ciders bath bomb, and lil’ lush pud bath bomb. I use LUSH products and absolutely love them! My skin always feels so good every time I get out of the shower or bath. Available at lushusa.com or any LUSH store for $28.95

Maternity holiday fashion

holiday maternity outfit

holiday maternity outfit by smallysmallz04 featuring a stretch maternity

Hi everyone! I wanted to talk to you today about holiday maternity fashion. Getting dressed when your pregnant can seem like such a chore, your body is changing and you may not feel like yourself! Being 8 months pregnant I have a few staple maternity pieces but tend to buy non maternity because they are cheaper. This holiday season we have parties and dinners so its important to have a couple cute outfits.

A basic black blazer is perfect when you’re expecting because you can pair it with a tight tank or loose-fitting tee-shirt. This is one piece that you don’t have to buy in maternity because it will look just as cute unbuttoned. In this look I put a sequined tank top underneath to give it a holiday flare. This tank is maternity because its impossible to fit a shirt to fit over the belly. Skinny jeans are a great idea to give the outfit a casual but, put together look. If you don’t want to do jeans then leggings would be perfect also. Your shoes are really optional, since the outfit is so basic I decided on a leopard print heel to give it a fun look. You could wear a red ballet flat or an above-the-knee boot, it just depends on what your comfort level is or if your feet are swollen. The watch here is a black Guess bracelet watch its a polished stainless steel and looks really cute paired with a couple bracelets. This season scarves are a trendy option to add to any outfit. No matter if your pregnant or not, this is a great look for the holidays. It’s great for any age and will look great on you no matter how “huge” you feel. I hope you all have a fun and safe holiday!

Lashin’ Out

One makeup product I can’t live without is mascara. The days that I am running late or don’t feel like doing a full face of makeup I always have my mascara and liquid eyeliner. Some women like to have volume and some like length, I like mascaras that give length and separation. Lancôme is my Holy Grail product, I can’t live without it. Don’t get me wrong I do like to try different brands, but I always go back to my Lancôme L’extreme or Definicils. Both products give you long lashes, as well as separate and define. The Definicils brush is patented to coat your lashes from base to tip. The wand is small enough to get each lash top and bottom. L’extreme is designed to extend your lashes up to 60% by using Fiberstrectch, which attaches supple fibers to every lash for an instant lash extension effect. The wand is thicker than the Definicils but thin enough to get every lash. Some brands that lengthen can cause your lashes to look like spiders, the mascara clumps and breaks your lashes off. Each of these mascaras cost about $25.00 and can be purchased at department stores, Sephora, or online.

I have found drugstore mascaras that work as well as expensive brands, for a fraction of the cost. For longer lashes, L’Oreal Lash Out and Telescopic are great products. The Telescopic brush is flat on one side to draw lashes out and a comb on the other to separate with exact precision. Lash Out has a teddy bear brush that smoothly coats lashes to build and separate without clumping.  You can find each of these at any drugstore for about $9.00. The ladies that like volume should try Cover girl Lashblast and Maybelline XXL Pro Volume. Lashblast has a thick wand that volumizes and separates lashes. If you have short eyelashes this product is great to give the extra boost you need for thicker dramatic lashes. XXL Pro Volume does the same thickening and separating lashes but, this product is dual ended. One end of the mascara has a primer that helps to lengthen with microfibers and helps the mascara to stay on all day. The other end has the mascara that adds the intense color. Price for both is around $9.00 each.

I am constantly being asked how my eyelashes are so long and what products I use. Thankfully have longer lashes to start off with but when I do my mascara, I take my time and use multiple coats. I also use an eyelash comb to get any extra clumps and separate my lashes even more. I don’t use primer because I feel like they can cause extreme clumping. They may work for some people, but personally I don’t like them. I try to keep my lashes as clump-free as possible, so I will apply a little moisturizer to my top lashes before applying my first coat. Then I will do about 10-15 coats, that may seem like a lot but since I use the comb it removes any clumps that may form. The more mascara you use the darker your lashes will be. I do not worry about product that goes onto my skin because it usually happens; I just take Q-tips and lotion to remove the product. Depending on what type of makeup I am doing I try and do the shadow last. If I’m doing a cat eye or neutral shadow, I will do the shadow last, but if I’m doing a more dramatic eye then I will do the eye shadow first.

Get the lashes you love by using an eyelash curler first, do numerous coats for a longer/thicker look, using an eyelash comb to separate and remove any clumps, applying mascara to the bottom lashes with the tip of the wand and do no more than 3 coats, and remove any product that gets onto your skin with a q-tip and lotion. You might have to go through a couple of losers to find a winner, but there is mascara that you will end up loving and wonder why you never tried it in the first place!!!
