Lancome Hypnotic Eyes Summer Glow Review

Lancome Hypnotic Eyes Set Summer Glow - $94 value!

One of my favorite mascara is Lancome Definicils, it gives my lashes great length and separation. But I’ve been on the hunt to find a drugstore brand that’s just as good. I went for about a month trying different ones and just didn’t love any, except Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions. So I decided that I need to just go back to what I know, Lancome. I planned on going to my local Lancome counter and trying the Lancome ‘Definicils Precious Cells’ and ended up leaving with “Hypnotic Eyes Summer Glow’ set.

I’ve been using the products for a couple of weeks now and this is my thought on it. The set includes:

Aquatique Waterproof Base in Nude

“Exhibition”LANCOME Color Design Eye Shadow GAZE (shimmer) u/b“Gaze”

2 Full-Size Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow in Gaze and Exhibition

Le Stylo Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Noir

Hypnose Drama Full Body Volume Mascara in Excessive Black

I think that you definitely get your monies worth for $39.50 you get $95.00 worth of goodies. I was going to spend $25 on my mascara so I was happy to spend a little more and get all these items.

The base is a creamy texture and is easy to apply, which I liked. I normally use MAC paint pots for my eyeshadow base, so I was a little leary to try something new. The staying power was okay. It didn’t crease, but I did see the color starting to fade as the day went on. I tend to have oily eyelids and perhaps that was the issue. This is a product that I’m glad that I have but wouldn’t trade in my paint pots or Urban Decay Primer Potion for.

The eye shadows I love! They are great neutral colors that can be worn everyday. Gaze is a shimmer shadow, it’s a light champagne/beige with a slight shimmer to it. It’s a perfect highlight color or can be worn alone for a more natural eye. You can apply this color in your inner tear ducts for a more awake look. Exhibition is a sheen shadow, it’s a medium plummy rose color with a slight sheen. This is  a great crease color that can be used everyday because it’s pretty light and subdued. I never used Lancome eyeshadow before, but I was pleasantly surprised. I will be buying more of them.

The eyeliner is the one item I was disappointed with. It’s a waterproof black that I don’t feel is dark enough to be applied to the waterline. The liner is the click type and doesn’t need to be sharpened which is nice, and it also has a smudger on the end, which I like. I had to apply a lot of product to my bottom waterline and after about an hour it was gone. On the top lash line the product did show better but it faded quickly. I would not buy this product again, I will stick with my Physician’s Formula gel liner!

Now to the main attraction, the Hypnose Drama. Surprisingly I like it. I’m not one that like the volume type of mascaras, but this one gives me the length that I like. The brush is a S-shaped which can take some getting used to. The product claims that you only need one coat and your good. I don’t find that to be true because when you take the mascara out there is so much product you have to wipe some off. I just take a piece of paper and remove some of the product by running the paper up the wand. For me this is the trick. Along with combing my eyelashes while wet. Once these two steps are done, I have look and length that I love so much from Lancome mascara. If you have short lashes try this product, it’s worth the $25. Make sure you comb your lashes because this product can clump if too much is applied.

I think that this set is well worth the money. I love the shadows and mascara, I will be buying them again. Lancome makes the best mascara, it’s one makeup product you should spend a little more on. When I don’t have makeup on my lashes are short and no dull. When my mascara is done people always ask if my lashes are real. I always tell them, to try Lancome mascara.

Now I’m off to finish the laundry and spend some time with my hubby! Hope you’re having an amazing day loves!

Purr-fecting the Cat Eye

Cat eye

Cat eye by smallysmallz04 featuring clutches

Hello my loves, today I want to talk about make-up!! I have always loved make-up, I can remember stealing my sisters make-up and just playing with it. It took me a long time to find what works for me, but I’m so glad I did. My go-to look would have to be the cat eye, it’s so simple and easy to do when I’m in a rush. One thing about me is, I’m not a morning person! I always wake up late and then don’t have time to get ready the way I would like to. I always hear about new moms not having time to get ready so the cat eye is a perfect eye for them to try.

There are many different ways you can do the cat eye, depending on your style or eye color. The first thing you want to start with is an eye primer, this will help stop creasing and if your eye lids are oily the primer will reduce the oils from coming through. It doesn’t matter if the primer is cheap or expensive you want to find one that works for you. Here we have Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow Primer it can be purchased at Sephora for $35.00. Since you want the primer to only be a base you should not see any color on your eye. Now its time to decide what type of eyeliner gal you are. Do you find it easier to use liquid, pencil or gel? Like anything in life practice makes perfect, so you really want to practice lining your top lid.

Above we have the Noir liquid eyeliner in black, this is going to give you a dark line but can take some getting used to doing. You always want to start at the lash line and build from there, depending on how thick you like your line.

Gel eyeliner is another way that you could go I prefer this type when using it with eyeshadow. Gel liners come in many different brands and also colors, it all depends on how you like to look. For a more subtle look I would try a brown, or purple gel liner.

Lastly we have pencil eyeliners, I personally use a black pencil liner on my water line to complete the cat eye. If you want more of a light line I would say go for the pencil, you want one that is smooth and glides on easy. Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners are great for two reasons, they glide on smoothly so you don’t have to tug and pull at your eye and also, they are waterproof so they have the staying power that you need for all day.

Changing your everyday make up routine is a great way to bring in the new year. That can mean adding to what you already do, or changing the products that you use. Make-up is such a wonderful way to enhance your natural beauty, and it shouldn’t take a long time to do that. Most women wish there was more time in the day, so your make-up routine shouldn’t be something taking up a lot of your time. Try out a couple of the products that I have mentioned, or let me know some products you love!! Make 2011 all about enhancing your natural beauty!!

Wishing you a Sensational day!!

Lashin’ Out

One makeup product I can’t live without is mascara. The days that I am running late or don’t feel like doing a full face of makeup I always have my mascara and liquid eyeliner. Some women like to have volume and some like length, I like mascaras that give length and separation. Lancôme is my Holy Grail product, I can’t live without it. Don’t get me wrong I do like to try different brands, but I always go back to my Lancôme L’extreme or Definicils. Both products give you long lashes, as well as separate and define. The Definicils brush is patented to coat your lashes from base to tip. The wand is small enough to get each lash top and bottom. L’extreme is designed to extend your lashes up to 60% by using Fiberstrectch, which attaches supple fibers to every lash for an instant lash extension effect. The wand is thicker than the Definicils but thin enough to get every lash. Some brands that lengthen can cause your lashes to look like spiders, the mascara clumps and breaks your lashes off. Each of these mascaras cost about $25.00 and can be purchased at department stores, Sephora, or online.

I have found drugstore mascaras that work as well as expensive brands, for a fraction of the cost. For longer lashes, L’Oreal Lash Out and Telescopic are great products. The Telescopic brush is flat on one side to draw lashes out and a comb on the other to separate with exact precision. Lash Out has a teddy bear brush that smoothly coats lashes to build and separate without clumping.  You can find each of these at any drugstore for about $9.00. The ladies that like volume should try Cover girl Lashblast and Maybelline XXL Pro Volume. Lashblast has a thick wand that volumizes and separates lashes. If you have short eyelashes this product is great to give the extra boost you need for thicker dramatic lashes. XXL Pro Volume does the same thickening and separating lashes but, this product is dual ended. One end of the mascara has a primer that helps to lengthen with microfibers and helps the mascara to stay on all day. The other end has the mascara that adds the intense color. Price for both is around $9.00 each.

I am constantly being asked how my eyelashes are so long and what products I use. Thankfully have longer lashes to start off with but when I do my mascara, I take my time and use multiple coats. I also use an eyelash comb to get any extra clumps and separate my lashes even more. I don’t use primer because I feel like they can cause extreme clumping. They may work for some people, but personally I don’t like them. I try to keep my lashes as clump-free as possible, so I will apply a little moisturizer to my top lashes before applying my first coat. Then I will do about 10-15 coats, that may seem like a lot but since I use the comb it removes any clumps that may form. The more mascara you use the darker your lashes will be. I do not worry about product that goes onto my skin because it usually happens; I just take Q-tips and lotion to remove the product. Depending on what type of makeup I am doing I try and do the shadow last. If I’m doing a cat eye or neutral shadow, I will do the shadow last, but if I’m doing a more dramatic eye then I will do the eye shadow first.

Get the lashes you love by using an eyelash curler first, do numerous coats for a longer/thicker look, using an eyelash comb to separate and remove any clumps, applying mascara to the bottom lashes with the tip of the wand and do no more than 3 coats, and remove any product that gets onto your skin with a q-tip and lotion. You might have to go through a couple of losers to find a winner, but there is mascara that you will end up loving and wonder why you never tried it in the first place!!!

Happy Shopping!
