Sensational Finds…. Spin pins, Candles, and Baby makes 3

:Side Note: Today is part 3 of 7 Days of Sensational Finds. These are two products I use all the time and love. Sunday I will post the details to the giveaway so please make sure you check back. If you have any items you think would be a good prize please let me know. I have some ideas but would like to get some others. Hope you enjoy this post. Please subscribe and comment.

Goodie Spin Pins- This is the best invention out, for hair accessories. These two bad boys take the place of 30 bobbie pins, and make it super easy to throw your hair in a bun. I’ve always hated having hair in my face. and now I have a baby that yanks on my hair like it’s his job. So for me, having my hair up is just works. The pins are a corkscrew shape, and come in either regular or short, light or dark. This makes it possible to use on short hair. It may seem complicated but it’s pretty simple to use. What you do is, take your hair into a pony tail (it can be high, low, half-up, loose or tight), wrap it in a bun (make sure your ends are tucked in), screw 1st pin (clockwise) at the top, and then the 2nd at the bottom (making sure you don’t interlock them). There you have it, a cute easy alternative to wearing your hair up. They’re available at all drugstores for about $6

TINDRA MYS Scented block candle red Package quantity: 3 pack Package quantity: 3 pack

Tindra Candles from Ikea– Whenever I’m home I usually have candles burning. To me it’s relaxing and makes your house feel like a home. I love to try different brands and scents of candles. More so than not, I’m disappointed by something. I tried the Tindra candle from Ikea mostly because they were so cheap. I was surprised to find it’s a wonderful candle. It’s a warm berry scent, that fills the whole room and that’s most important to me. Have you ever brought a candle, smelled it and liked it, then when you get home and burn it, you can’t smell it at all. That drives me crazy. The Tindra candle comes in 6 different sizes. I use the small size in glass, it burns for 30 hours and cost $1.99. After 1 hour your room will smell amazing. Since I’m home all day it’s important that my house feels relaxing and calm. Candles are one way I make my house a home. You might have guests come over after your baby arrives, before they get there light a candle. It will make your home smell warm and welcoming.

My Six Favorite Nail Polishes

Having a fresh manicure is something I think every girl loves. When I look down at my hands and see  freshly painted nails it always puts a smile on my face. I love getting my nails done by the professionals, but with a new baby it’s not always feasible. So doing them my self is the next best thing. Painting your nails can take some patients that not everyone has, including me most days. This is why a Quick Dry Topcoat will help from smudging your nails because you can’t wait any longer for them to dry (please tell me I’m not alone). Seche Vite is the one that I use and will highly recommend you to get it. It’s available at Ulta but, I’ve found it on Amazon.com around $5.00. Now on to favorite polishes right now.

1. Essie French Affair- The whole French Affair is beautiful, I believe it’s the newest collection out right now. It’s a light pink color, but not sheer. Most pinks I find are more sheer, so you have to do a couple of coats, this one is not. You can do 2 coats and be fine. Light pink is a color that you can wear everyday no matter what you’re wearing, a great neutral polish.

2. MAC Coconut Ice- This a light coral color that’s perfect for spring. I brought this color last year so I’m not sure if they still have it, but I love it. Coral is such a popular color this year for spring, and I’m totally loving it. This is more of a subtle coral and not as bright as it normally is. I wear this shad all the time and love the way it looks. The only thing is I’m not crazy about MAC nail polish, I’m not sure if it’s the formula or what. They are quite costly as well.

3. Essie Carousel Coral- Yes, another coral. I told you I was loving coral. This is another shade that I’ve had for a while, but now that spring is here I’ m all about using it again. This is more vibrant than Coconut Ice and I think I like this one much better. Sometimes you just want a bright color on your nails and this is one that I love.

4. Sinful Colors Savage- This is a drugstore brand, that I purchased at Rite Aid. The color I say is a greenish blue, like a dark turquoise. I saw it the other day and it really caught my eye. Its part of their new Lone Star collection which had some really cute colors. The best part about this brand is they only cost around $3.00, what a steal. I have other colors from this company that I like, and they have a bunch of colors at Rite Aid. So thumbs up for Sinful Colors.

5. Essie Mint Candy Apple- Perhaps I have a thing for Essie polish. This is a fun mint green color, almost the color of a Tiffany’s box. It’s such a spring color, you can just look at it and think spring. Maybe because it’s a pastel color and people always wear pastels in spring. Anyway, I love this color on my toes, that’s what I’m wearing now.

6. Maybelline Beach Plum- This was a limited edition color that I got on sale and absolutely love it. It’s a purple color, but not too dark. It’s more in the middle is we are talking about darkness. Not light and not dark, shall we say Barney purple. I love mixing it with a purple glitter polish on 1 nail, it looks so amazing. Yes, so amazing I’m wearing it now!

Ok gals and guys that’s all of them, my 6 favorite nail polish colors. Hope you liked them, please share your favorites. Now its adult time. We’re dog sitting for my mother-in-law, so we have 2 dogs. It’s a lot of work to have 2 dogs and a baby, I’m pooped! I had the best 1st Mother’s Day ever! Bobby and the baby made me my favorite breakfast, french toast and bacon. It was so yummy! They brought me the prettiest roses and we went on a picnic in a park. It was a wonderful day, spent with my two boys. I hope you all day a wonderful Mother’s Day and are having a great week.

I started doing YouTube videos again so please go and check them out! Make sure you subscribe, it would mean so much to me!

Xoxo

B is 2 months old!

The past 2 months have been life changing to say the least. Time is flying by so quickly, I have to remember to slow down and enjoy the little things. Some people dream of being a doctor or singer, I have always dreamed of being a mother and a wife. I know that may sound silly, that being my only dream but it was. I had an amazing mother to aspire to be just like, sadly she was taken away from our family 15 years ago but I strive to everyday to be half the mom she was. I’m trying to enjoy every smile and sound, and not wishing him to grow up too fast. B is a wonderful boy and handsome like his dad. He’s starting to get this little personality and laughs at the funny faces we make at him. Thankfully he’s started sleeping more at night, we do our bedtime routine at 8pm and he’s usually asleep by 9 o’clock and won’t wake until 4am to feed. After he eats he’s back to sleep until 8am when we get up for the day. Right now I’m lucky because I’m able to stay home with him. I’m hoping to be able to be a stay at home mom indefinitely, but we’ll have to see once the summer is over. B is going for his 2 month shots in the middle of this month, so I’m sure that’ll we fun! Right? We went to our local consignment sale last week and scored an awesome mobile, some toys and books. I’ll be doing a post to show all his goodies. I’ve lost all the baby weight, so now I need to tone up which will probably be the hardest because I hate working out. I feel somewhat like myself just tired. I’ve started a daily schedule for myself and baby. I couldn’t watch another day of trash t.v anymore. We did B’s 2 month photo shoot and wanted to share some of the picture we took!

I have a couple new posts planned so look out for them. If you have any request or ideas please share!

Have a sensational day

Baby’s 6 Week Update

My handsome little monkey has turned 6 weeks today and he’s just amazing. I’m totally a new parent because everything he does is just so wonderful, and I’m loving every minute of it. I have never been so tired in my life, I think my body is getting used to not sleeping. I have always liked to sleep in, and God only knows the last time I got 8 hours of straight sleep. I now know why they say “sleep before the baby comes”, you would have to sleep for a full month to be rested enough to not feel tired. My eyes literally burn when I wake up, but once I can finally see what I’m doing, and see my little man looking at me I know it’s all for a good cause! We are currently co-sleeping, which I never thought we would do. The first couple of weeks he slept better in the bed with us, then in the pack ‘n play next to the bed. We went and brought a travel crib that we keep in the middle of our bed, and made as safe as possible. It has walls so neither of us can roll over on him, and Diva won’t try to bother him. You’ll always have these big opinions when your pregnant, and the second that baby is born you will do whatever you need to make him as comfortable as possible. So don’t be hard on yourself if things don’t go the way that you planned. Babies are so unpredictable, you have to do whats best for the family, and not care what other people think!

We are still breastfeeding, which I have become very fond of. I have put so much effort into breastfeeding, so giving him formula just isn’t what I want to do. If he are out at the mall, or at his Grandmom’s then we’ll give him formula only if I don’t have anything pumped for a bottle. Even then I hate giving him the formula because I know he’ll spit up so much more than he usually does. Doctors say that if you can breastfeed for 1 year that would be amazing for baby, but how realistic is that? I’m not sure how long I will be able to be a stay at home mom, if later on we need the money then I’ll go back to work. We’re going to try for 6 months and see how that goes, I have been pumping and trying to stock pile but we always end up using it. Bobby has become so alert, he has a great friendship with the ceiling fan. He smiles at us, makes the cutest baby noises, and tries to stand up while we hold him. In a nutshell he’s amazing! I haven’t been blogging too much lately but I’m going to try to do something at least every other day, even if it’s just a quick thought or picture. Oh and by the way, Thank God it’s SPRING, this chick is ready for some warm weather!

How I survived the 1st week of motherhood

I consider myself to be a planner and an over thinker, so when I got pregnant this was maximized to the 10th power. I was constantly making list and thing to do’s but there are just somethings that you can’t plan for and need to experience on your own. I must say this past week has been great, I think that has a lot to do with me being prepared. Raising a baby is like starting the first day of kindergarten, you’re so excited but have no clue what a long journey you’re in for. Here are a couple of things I have found to be live-savers so far.

1. Moby Wrap- This is something I’ve used everyday since baby and I came home from the hospital. I love to be able to hold him while I browse the internet and blog. Without the wrap he would be sleeping in his swing or bouncer seat, and I would feel bad because he isn’t getting any attention. I read somewhere that newborns are going thru the 4th trimester and need to be close to their mothers for most of the day. In most countries babies are always in slings and carried by the mother, this creates a healthy bond. I love the fact that I can do almost anything I would normally do if I wasn’t holding him.

2. Medela Nipple Shields Hands down the best breast-feeding accessory, for mothers that can’t get baby to latch properly. While I was in the hospital I had almost every nurse trying to help me get baby B to nurse. He would get it sometimes, but for the most part would just scream and cry. They had me try every hold, skin-to-skin, formula on the nipple, and they would even hold the nipple out for baby to latch, nothing worked! I went home discouraged, I have HUGE TaTas and can’t feed my baby. My sister then told me she had the same problem and used the nipple shields. I immediately went out and got them, it worked. Now baby feeds like a champ every 2 hours. The only thing I would say is that I don’t think I have small nipples, I think they are average, but I had to get a small-sized shield. So be careful when buying your because your little one might not be able to suck hard enough to get the nipple through.

3.Swaddle Me- I know that not every newborn likes to be swaddled but, mine loves it. He loves to  be in a tight wrap, and doing it with the receiving blanket can be difficult. Every time the baby would come back from the nursery at the hospital he would be sound asleep. They had the ability to wrap him so well he would instantly calm down, the 2nd night he was in my room I couldn’t get him to stop crying. I had to call a nurse in just to swaddle him, I thought, “what the hell am I gonna do when I get home?” The Swaddle Me makes so quick and easy. I have been using the 5 s’s from the Happiest Baby on the Block and I swear it works, you should check it out they have videos on YouTube.

Here’s a couple pictures of me in action using the products I’ve talked about. Now I’m off to put my baby boy to bed and spend some much needed QT with my honey.

Hope you all have a Sensational Day!

Meet Our Little Man

I’m so happy to announce that I gave birth on Monday, February 7,2011 at 1:32a.m, to a healthy baby boy. He is the most precious baby I have ever seen, of course as his mother I have the right to think that. I never could have imagined the type of love that comes with motherhood, it’s so amazingly strong. The moment he was born his father and I instantly started to cry, the emotions of past 9 months just came upon us. Thinking about the birth makes me cry all over again. The labor was long but surprisingly not as painful as I thought it would be. The whole week I didn’t progress at all, my cervix was closed and high, so we scheduled our induction and I thought that was going to be the day. I guess baby had other plans because Superbowl Sunday I was woken up to cramping around 6a.m that only got worse as the day went on. I didn’t want to go to the hospital right away because I knew that If I wasn’t far enough dilated they would send me home, and I couldn’t handle that. Finally around 3p.m I couldn’t take the pain anymore so we decided to just go and see what happens. When I got to the hospital they took my blood pressure and it was high, and I was 1cm dilated, they decided that the blood pressure was an issue and would induce me. If it wasn’t for my blood pressure they would have sent me home in excruciating pain. After they started the induction I progressed quickly and after about 20 pushes Bobby Joe was here.

He’s such a good baby, he’s so alert and cute I can’t take it sometimes. He loves to be in his swing and just rock back and forth. We have only been home for a couple days but it feels so much longer then that. The only issue I’ve been having is breast feeding, he’s having a hard time latching on. We are trying a couple new things  to get him to latch properly, hopefully they work. Breast feeding is one topic everyone has an opinon about, and it drives me crazy! The nurses at the hospital made it seem like my baby would be fat and stupid if I don’t breast feed which I disagree with. I’m going to talk more about that it another post! Right now life is amazing. I have the perfect man, perfect baby, and perfect life. Its’s all mine and that’s what makes it so “perfect”! Here are a couple pictures of our new addition BJH IV.

Hope your having a Sensational Day!
