7 Days of Sensational Finds (Part 3)

1. Gas drops and Gripe Water- Most baby tend to have A TON of gas and B was one of them. He would be in tears because of the discomfort. He  still has gas, but it’s gotten better and he doesn’t cry about it anymore. Gas drops are great to have just incase you LO gets it. You should give them to him before he eats or mix it into the bottle if they get one. We also gave him Gripe Water, which is a natural remedie for gas, colic, or reflux. It contains ginger, fennel, and sodium bicarbonate, which all are good for stomach discomfort. Leg exercises like bicycles are great to use as well, to help get the gas out. We use the Target brand and that runs about $3.00. Mylicon is the top rated brand for babies and that can run about $10.00. Gripe Water is available at drugstores, Wal-mart, Target or online at Amazon.com

2. Hand Soap and Sanitizer- Everyone knows, with a newborn your always washing your hands. I went to Bath & Body Works and brought a bunch of different scented soaps and sanitizer. I love the Japanese Cherry Blossom scent. It was so nice to go wash my hands and smell this lovely scent. I had a hand sanitizer on our coffee table so any time someone came over I would have them wash or sanitize their hands. Plus since it was sitting right there I would remember to do it and others would see I mean business! Ha! While your there get yourself a good hand cream because those bad boys will be dry from all the washing. I also keep the mini size hand sanitizer in my diaper bag and car. Wet Ones Antibacterial Wipes are also a great option to keep with you or at house for a quick wipe down.

These are two products I have used from the day Baby B was born. They’re definitely part of my baby arsenal. And I think every new mom should have a baby arsenal.

What’s in your baby arsenal?

Today I’m gonna do a “throw back” picture of the baby just to see how much he’s grown in the past 16 weeks!

7 Days of Sensational Finds and a Giveaway?!?

Starting this week, everyday I will talk about 1 or 2 products I love as a new mom.  I’m by no means a mommy pro, but I do have a few items that I love and want to recommend for any new mom. I did so much research and reading on different baby products and the book “The girlfriends’ guide to baby gear” by Vicki Iovine really gave me a realistic ideas of what’s actually necessary. So definitely check that book out if your pregnant and want some pointers. Once the baby comes home you will see what works best for you and them but here’s a couple of things that I swear by, and still use at 4 months old.

:Side Note: Next Sunday I wanted to do a giveaway of some of the products I mention. I’m not sure if anyone would want to enter but if you would want to do please comment below so I can go out this week and purchase them. Then on Sunday I would post all the details. So, comment below if a giveaway is something your into! Now back to what I was talking about!

1. Pampers Swaddler diapers– I read that you should buy a few different brands just incase your Little One (LO) was allergic, but I didn’t know that some diapers just leak for the hell of it. Huggies is one brand for us that just leak! It happens often with boys. We had about 100 that I  had to give to my sister who’s having a baby girl. Pamper Swaddler  also comes in sensitive, and doesn’t have the Dry Max that can cause irritation for some. I just love the swaddlers. They have the wetness indicator on the front of the diaper so if they are wet you can tell with just looking and not have to do the “sniff test”. Pampers has a great program Gifts That Grow, almost all the products you buy have codes located on them.  You can redeem them online for points, once you accumulate different amounts of points you can get free things. I’m all about free things, so I love it. I definitely think Pampers Swaddlers’ are the way to go for boys.

2. The Soothie– This is the best pacifier. When Baby B was in the hospital they gave us this pacifier to use and he’s used it ever since. Of course I went out and brought all the cute pacifiers that say ” MY MOMS HOT”. He just won’t use them. They have a more round shaped nipple. The Soothie is more like mothers’ nipple, slim and long. The colors aren’t fun at all. Blue, Pink, and green is all you’re getting. One cool “accessory” sold for your soothie is a  Wubbanub Plush Pacifier Toys. It’s a Soothie attached to a stuffed animal, which is a genius idea. Baby B is constantly spitting out the pacifier in his sleep, I’ll have to go and put it back in his mouth once he starts to cry. The stuffed animal rests on your LO chest so they can’t lose the paci so easily.  You have to buy it already attached which kind of sucks, but they are just too cute not to have. These two are a must!

Here’s our daily pictures from yesterday (5/28) and today (5/29).

Lancome Hypnotic Eyes Summer Glow Review

Lancome Hypnotic Eyes Set Summer Glow - $94 value!

One of my favorite mascara is Lancome Definicils, it gives my lashes great length and separation. But I’ve been on the hunt to find a drugstore brand that’s just as good. I went for about a month trying different ones and just didn’t love any, except Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions. So I decided that I need to just go back to what I know, Lancome. I planned on going to my local Lancome counter and trying the Lancome ‘Definicils Precious Cells’ and ended up leaving with “Hypnotic Eyes Summer Glow’ set.

I’ve been using the products for a couple of weeks now and this is my thought on it. The set includes:

Aquatique Waterproof Base in Nude

“Exhibition”LANCOME Color Design Eye Shadow GAZE (shimmer) u/b“Gaze”

2 Full-Size Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow in Gaze and Exhibition

Le Stylo Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Noir

Hypnose Drama Full Body Volume Mascara in Excessive Black

I think that you definitely get your monies worth for $39.50 you get $95.00 worth of goodies. I was going to spend $25 on my mascara so I was happy to spend a little more and get all these items.

The base is a creamy texture and is easy to apply, which I liked. I normally use MAC paint pots for my eyeshadow base, so I was a little leary to try something new. The staying power was okay. It didn’t crease, but I did see the color starting to fade as the day went on. I tend to have oily eyelids and perhaps that was the issue. This is a product that I’m glad that I have but wouldn’t trade in my paint pots or Urban Decay Primer Potion for.

The eye shadows I love! They are great neutral colors that can be worn everyday. Gaze is a shimmer shadow, it’s a light champagne/beige with a slight shimmer to it. It’s a perfect highlight color or can be worn alone for a more natural eye. You can apply this color in your inner tear ducts for a more awake look. Exhibition is a sheen shadow, it’s a medium plummy rose color with a slight sheen. This is  a great crease color that can be used everyday because it’s pretty light and subdued. I never used Lancome eyeshadow before, but I was pleasantly surprised. I will be buying more of them.

The eyeliner is the one item I was disappointed with. It’s a waterproof black that I don’t feel is dark enough to be applied to the waterline. The liner is the click type and doesn’t need to be sharpened which is nice, and it also has a smudger on the end, which I like. I had to apply a lot of product to my bottom waterline and after about an hour it was gone. On the top lash line the product did show better but it faded quickly. I would not buy this product again, I will stick with my Physician’s Formula gel liner!

Now to the main attraction, the Hypnose Drama. Surprisingly I like it. I’m not one that like the volume type of mascaras, but this one gives me the length that I like. The brush is a S-shaped which can take some getting used to. The product claims that you only need one coat and your good. I don’t find that to be true because when you take the mascara out there is so much product you have to wipe some off. I just take a piece of paper and remove some of the product by running the paper up the wand. For me this is the trick. Along with combing my eyelashes while wet. Once these two steps are done, I have look and length that I love so much from Lancome mascara. If you have short lashes try this product, it’s worth the $25. Make sure you comb your lashes because this product can clump if too much is applied.

I think that this set is well worth the money. I love the shadows and mascara, I will be buying them again. Lancome makes the best mascara, it’s one makeup product you should spend a little more on. When I don’t have makeup on my lashes are short and no dull. When my mascara is done people always ask if my lashes are real. I always tell them, to try Lancome mascara.

Now I’m off to finish the laundry and spend some time with my hubby! Hope you’re having an amazing day loves!

My Six Favorite Nail Polishes

Having a fresh manicure is something I think every girl loves. When I look down at my hands and see  freshly painted nails it always puts a smile on my face. I love getting my nails done by the professionals, but with a new baby it’s not always feasible. So doing them my self is the next best thing. Painting your nails can take some patients that not everyone has, including me most days. This is why a Quick Dry Topcoat will help from smudging your nails because you can’t wait any longer for them to dry (please tell me I’m not alone). Seche Vite is the one that I use and will highly recommend you to get it. It’s available at Ulta but, I’ve found it on Amazon.com around $5.00. Now on to favorite polishes right now.

1. Essie French Affair- The whole French Affair is beautiful, I believe it’s the newest collection out right now. It’s a light pink color, but not sheer. Most pinks I find are more sheer, so you have to do a couple of coats, this one is not. You can do 2 coats and be fine. Light pink is a color that you can wear everyday no matter what you’re wearing, a great neutral polish.

2. MAC Coconut Ice- This a light coral color that’s perfect for spring. I brought this color last year so I’m not sure if they still have it, but I love it. Coral is such a popular color this year for spring, and I’m totally loving it. This is more of a subtle coral and not as bright as it normally is. I wear this shad all the time and love the way it looks. The only thing is I’m not crazy about MAC nail polish, I’m not sure if it’s the formula or what. They are quite costly as well.

3. Essie Carousel Coral- Yes, another coral. I told you I was loving coral. This is another shade that I’ve had for a while, but now that spring is here I’ m all about using it again. This is more vibrant than Coconut Ice and I think I like this one much better. Sometimes you just want a bright color on your nails and this is one that I love.

4. Sinful Colors Savage- This is a drugstore brand, that I purchased at Rite Aid. The color I say is a greenish blue, like a dark turquoise. I saw it the other day and it really caught my eye. Its part of their new Lone Star collection which had some really cute colors. The best part about this brand is they only cost around $3.00, what a steal. I have other colors from this company that I like, and they have a bunch of colors at Rite Aid. So thumbs up for Sinful Colors.

5. Essie Mint Candy Apple- Perhaps I have a thing for Essie polish. This is a fun mint green color, almost the color of a Tiffany’s box. It’s such a spring color, you can just look at it and think spring. Maybe because it’s a pastel color and people always wear pastels in spring. Anyway, I love this color on my toes, that’s what I’m wearing now.

6. Maybelline Beach Plum- This was a limited edition color that I got on sale and absolutely love it. It’s a purple color, but not too dark. It’s more in the middle is we are talking about darkness. Not light and not dark, shall we say Barney purple. I love mixing it with a purple glitter polish on 1 nail, it looks so amazing. Yes, so amazing I’m wearing it now!

Ok gals and guys that’s all of them, my 6 favorite nail polish colors. Hope you liked them, please share your favorites. Now its adult time. We’re dog sitting for my mother-in-law, so we have 2 dogs. It’s a lot of work to have 2 dogs and a baby, I’m pooped! I had the best 1st Mother’s Day ever! Bobby and the baby made me my favorite breakfast, french toast and bacon. It was so yummy! They brought me the prettiest roses and we went on a picnic in a park. It was a wonderful day, spent with my two boys. I hope you all day a wonderful Mother’s Day and are having a great week.

I started doing YouTube videos again so please go and check them out! Make sure you subscribe, it would mean so much to me!

Xoxo

Baby’s First Easter

This Easter was the first holiday we were able to celebrate with Baby B since he was born in February. When I was pregnant I would think about how the holidays would be when he was here, and how exciting it will be to see the holidays through a child’s eyes. There’s nothing more special than to watch someone experience something new for the first time. I know I love experiencing new things in life. When I gave birth that was a feeling that I never felt before. It’s something you can’t put into words. I was experiencing something brand new for the first time. Baby B is still too young to know what was going on, but just having him here with us was wonderful.

Growing up we always had different traditions on holidays. On Easter we would go to Mass on Saturday night and then Easter morning we would go downstairs, find the eggs that we colored days before, then open our baskets. We always used the same colorful baskets. My mom would cook dinner, and all the brothers, sisters, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews would be there. It’s memories like this I’m so excited to make with my family. To me, that’s what makes a holiday so special. I decided that I wanted to get Baby B a basket that he could use year after year. Something with his name on it. I started browsing Etsy and found a couple of cute buckets with names on them. I figured I could just make one myself and not spend $20-30. I asked Bobby’s Aunt to make it since she is wonderful at making crafty things like that. She got him the cutest duck easter basket and then put his name on it. It wasn’t what I had pictured, but it was perfect. Thanks Auntie!

Bobby and I decided to spend our first holiday as a family here at our house. I cooked and we just hung out enjoying the day. We did a mini photo shoot of Baby B in his Easter outfit. He wore an orange and white striped long-sleeved Ralph Lauren Polo romper and tan sneakers. He looked like a little preppy stud muffin! It’s hard to find cute clothes for boys, but you can never go wrong with Ralph Laurens Polo. It’s cute, comfortable, fits well, and is fashionable. It can be a little pricey, so thank God we have an outlet super close and Marshalls always carries it. We had a wonderful first Easter and I feel so blessed to have such an amazing son and fiance  to spend it with. Now it’s time to enjoy the warm weather of spring with long walks at the park, flip-flops, Rita’s Water Ice, and family!

Score At A Consignment Sale

This past weekend we went to the Lil’ Angels  Consignment Sale and brought some much-needed toys, books, and a couple of sleepers. I volunteered last sale they had, and was able to shop first which was great since they sell out of everything fast. So when I heard they were having their spring sale I decided to volunteer again. They had so many great items clothes, toys, books, strollers, pack n’plays, high chairs, and so much more. Friday evening we backed up B and headed to the sale. We found a couple of toys that light up and make noise which he really loves.

I’m the most excited about the Tiny Love mobile that we scored for $18.00. He loved mobile that went with his bedding set, it cost $45.00 and broke after a week. It was cheaply made and needed to be wound up every 5 minutes. I was searching online for a different one for him and saw some that were pretty awesome. I’m so glad I didn’t just buy the first one I saw, because I saved myself some money. As soon as we got home I ran to put the mobile together. It wasn’t the easiest thing I’ve done, the directions were somewhat confusing. After a good 30 minutes I managed put it together, and B loves it. I knew he would.

Anyway we had a wonderful time finding new things for B. Next time I will probably try to sell some of the things that the baby doesn’t need anymore. So here are some pictures of the thing we scored. All together we spent $45.00, the mobile alone would’ve cost about $30 brand new so I’m happy!

Hope you have a sensational day!

How I survived the 1st week of motherhood

I consider myself to be a planner and an over thinker, so when I got pregnant this was maximized to the 10th power. I was constantly making list and thing to do’s but there are just somethings that you can’t plan for and need to experience on your own. I must say this past week has been great, I think that has a lot to do with me being prepared. Raising a baby is like starting the first day of kindergarten, you’re so excited but have no clue what a long journey you’re in for. Here are a couple of things I have found to be live-savers so far.

1. Moby Wrap- This is something I’ve used everyday since baby and I came home from the hospital. I love to be able to hold him while I browse the internet and blog. Without the wrap he would be sleeping in his swing or bouncer seat, and I would feel bad because he isn’t getting any attention. I read somewhere that newborns are going thru the 4th trimester and need to be close to their mothers for most of the day. In most countries babies are always in slings and carried by the mother, this creates a healthy bond. I love the fact that I can do almost anything I would normally do if I wasn’t holding him.

2. Medela Nipple Shields Hands down the best breast-feeding accessory, for mothers that can’t get baby to latch properly. While I was in the hospital I had almost every nurse trying to help me get baby B to nurse. He would get it sometimes, but for the most part would just scream and cry. They had me try every hold, skin-to-skin, formula on the nipple, and they would even hold the nipple out for baby to latch, nothing worked! I went home discouraged, I have HUGE TaTas and can’t feed my baby. My sister then told me she had the same problem and used the nipple shields. I immediately went out and got them, it worked. Now baby feeds like a champ every 2 hours. The only thing I would say is that I don’t think I have small nipples, I think they are average, but I had to get a small-sized shield. So be careful when buying your because your little one might not be able to suck hard enough to get the nipple through.

3.Swaddle Me- I know that not every newborn likes to be swaddled but, mine loves it. He loves to  be in a tight wrap, and doing it with the receiving blanket can be difficult. Every time the baby would come back from the nursery at the hospital he would be sound asleep. They had the ability to wrap him so well he would instantly calm down, the 2nd night he was in my room I couldn’t get him to stop crying. I had to call a nurse in just to swaddle him, I thought, “what the hell am I gonna do when I get home?” The Swaddle Me makes so quick and easy. I have been using the 5 s’s from the Happiest Baby on the Block and I swear it works, you should check it out they have videos on YouTube.

Here’s a couple pictures of me in action using the products I’ve talked about. Now I’m off to put my baby boy to bed and spend some much needed QT with my honey.

Hope you all have a Sensational Day!
